Exemption from Work Permit for those coming to work at mega-events, international festivals, and concerts in Thailand. (02 Notification of Work Extension Request)

For foreign nationals coming to work on organizing mega-events, international festivals, international music festivals, concerts, as well as meetings, training sessions, seminars, exhibitions, or trade shows as per the Department of Employment’s notification for necessary, urgent, or special tasks, if the work is not completed within the specified 15 days, an extension of up to an additional 15 days can be requested under the following conditions and criteria:

  • A foreign national entering the Kingdom temporarily under the Immigration Law to perform work that is necessary, urgent, or of a special nature related to:

o Organizing meetings, training sessions, seminars, exhibitions, or trade shows as per clause 3 (2)

o Work supported by government agencies as per clause 3 (13) as follows:

(a) Organizing mega-events or international festivals

(b) International music festivals or concerts

  • The work has been notified to the registrar (Department of Employment) and a notification of work (Form BT. 36) has been received.
  • The work must be completed within the 15-day period. If not completed within this time frame, an extension of up to an additional 15 days can be requested by notifying the registrar before the initial deadline (the total duration must not exceed the permitted stay in the Kingdom).

Documents Required for Requesting an Extension of Work Duration:

  1. Notification Form for Work Extension (Form BT. 35) – 1 set
  2. Notification of Work (Form BT. 36) – 1 set
  3. Copy of passport – 1 set
  4. Copy of visa or permit for entry and stay in the Kingdom – 1 set
  5. Photograph (half-body, facing forward, no hat, no glasses) size 3 x 4 cm – 1 photo (taken within the last 6 months)
  6. If not applying in person, a power of attorney from the foreign national, with a 10 baht stamp duty. The representative must present their original ID card or other official document for identity verification.
