This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom for specific purposes, such as to conduct business or to work (Category “B”).
Remark
- The validity of visa is 3 months for a single entry
- The validity of visa is 1 year for multiple entries
- Visa fee is 2,000 Baht (Single Entry) and 5,000 Baht (Multiple Entries)
- Period of stay per visit not exceeding 90 days
- Must have sufficient fund (at least 20,000 Baht per person or at least 40,000 Baht per family)

Work Permit
- Letter of approval from the Ministry of Labour (To obtain this letter, the prospective employer in Thailand is required to submit Form WP3 at the Office of Foreign Workers Administration, Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour, Mitmaitri Road, Din Daeng, Din Daeng, Bangkok 10400 Tel. 0-2245-2745 / 617-6578 / 617-6584 Fax. 0-2617-6576 or Smart Job Centre in each province. If the application is approved, the Ministry of Labour will issue a letter notifying prospective employer of the decision. The prospective employer must forward this approval letter to the foreigner to use as supporting document for their visa application)
- Employment contract and letter from employer indicating rationale for employing the applicant as well as his/her salary, position and qualifications; along with company’s documents, e.g. certificate of company registration, list of shareholders, factory operation permit (if any), VAT registration certificate, latest financial statement, etc.
Business Dealings
Document required
- Letter from a company the applicant is working for, stating the objective of the visit to Thailand and names of companies or businesses to be visited.
- Evidence of financial status or evidence of applicant’s business (in case of not working with any particular company or business)
- Evidence of financial status/details of business operation in Thailand (in case applicant will operate business in Thailand)
- Letter of invitation from companies inviting foreigners to travel to Thailand for business purpose (must also attached inviting company’s documents, e.g. certificate of company registration, list of shareholders, factory operation permit (if any), VAT registration certificate, latest financial statement, etc.)
- In case of applicant being a consultant for the company, a copy of letter of appointment from the company must also be submitted.
Notice
- Company’s documents must be signed by authorized managing director/partner and affixed the seal of the company, together with a certified copy of the authorized person’s ID card.
- Company’s documents should be certified by Ministry of Commerce within 6 months – 1 year. This is because many companies no longer conduct business but still use company’s documents for certifying purpose.
Remark
- Once the Royal Thai Embassy/Thai Consulate has issued a Non-Immigrant Visa “B”, the applicant should contact the Foreign Workers Administration Office upon arrival in Thailand to apply for a Work Permit. When the Work Permit is obtained, applicant can start working.
- In case of applicant working and residing in Thailand for 1 year, employer will have to file a request to the Immigration Office for approval. When the request has been granted, Immigration Bureau will notify Royal Thai Embassy/Thai Consulate through Ministry of Foreign Affairs to issue a Non-Immigrant Visa, Category “B-A”
Extension of stay in Thailand
Foreigners meeting the qualification requirements and conditions set by Immigration Bureau can obtain an additional one year stay permit. Such foreigners can file an application for permission at the Office of Immigration Bureau located on Government Centre B, Chaengwattana Road, Bangkok Tel. +66 2141 9889 (or at website www.immigration.go.th). The approval of such request is at the discretion of the Immigration officer.
