The provision of temporary stay extension services in the Kingdom of Thailand has been made available electronically through e-Extension (Electronics Extension of Temporary Stay in The Kingdom) by the Royal Thai Police and the Immigration Bureau. This new service standardizes the process for foreign nationals to apply for extensions of temporary stay and pay associated fees electronically.

Applicants can apply for the extension online while they are within Thailand. They can submit the required documents online, await the online approval response, and once approved, they should proceed to the immigration checkpoint to receive the physical stamp that confirms their personal identity.

Here are the steps and procedures for extending a Thai visa online through the Thailand Visa E-Extension system:

  • Foreigners can apply through https://online.vfsevisa.com/thai/en/on-boarding Enter your email, phone number, and specify your nationality
  • Please provide the application details and upload necessary documents
  • Book an online appointment and pay the fee
  • Receive the E-Extension visa stamp at the immigration checkpoint

The visa E-Extension fees for Thailand 

Paying the fee is the final step of the application process. The fees are as follows:

  • The visa fee is 1,900 Baht
  • There are additional service fees available for selection.
    1. The regular service fee is 500 Baht
    2. The express service fee is 1,500 Baht
    3. The urgent service fee is 5,000 Baht

Here are some important conditions to be aware of:

The E-Extension Visa service is currently available exclusively for foreigners who have residence or workplace within the Bangkok Metropolitan Region. The service will be provided based on the following 12 reasons or necessities:

  • Tourism
  • Teachers in state educational institutions
  • Studying in state educational institutions
  • Government officials, employees of state enterprises, or other state organizations
  • Returning to the original domicile of Thai nationals
  • Family members with a domicile
  • Media personnel performing their duties
  • Teaching, researching, or performing duties in state agencies.
  • Installation, maintenance, or repair of machinery, aircraft, or ships
  • Medical experts
  • Drivers and attendants of vehicles
  • Ambassadors or consular officials requesting certification and endorsement
