Should MICE travellers require Work Permit for Thailand entry?

Information on work permit requirement for MICE travellers joining MICE activities in Thailand.

7 activities which are not classified as “Work” by the Working of Alien Act, NOT require work permit. Tourist visa can be applied for.

  1. Attend seminars or meetings
  2. Join exhibitions or trade fairs
  3. Visit business venues or negotiate for business deals
  4. Attend academic or special lectures
  5. Attend lecture or seminar on technical training
  6. Buy products from trade fairs
  7. Attend the traveller’s board of director meeting

For travellers who need to entry for necessary or urgent duties which must be completed within 15 days, they must submit the notification letter to the registrar. They will be exempted from requesting for Work Permit.

Exemptions from Work Permit Requirements

  1. Foreign organizers
  2. Foreign exhibitors
  3. Foreign lecturers or speakers for exhibitions or seminars  

Foreigners who need to entry for necessary or urgent duties must apply for a Visa (any types of visa) and submit WP 10 form and report to the registrar.
