Importing Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, and Other Related Products

Trade fairs in the pharmaceutical and medical sectors often involve the import of pharmaceuticals, chemicals, pharmaceutical salt, and semi-finished pharmaceutical chemicals. It is crucial to note that the importation of such products requires approval from the Food and Drug Administration Department, the Department of Industrial Works, and the Department of Foreign Trade. Therefore, it is essential to comprehend the import regulations prior to importing these items.

Controlled substances by type and group, as follows:
• Aristolochia spp. 
• Chloramphenicol 
• Chloroform 
• Chlorpromazine 
• Colchicine 
• Dapsone 
• Nitrofurans 
• Diethylstilbestrol 
• Sulfonamides 
• Fluoroquinolones 
• Glycopeptides 
• Dimetridazole 
• Metronidazole 
• Ronidazole 
• Ipronidazole 
• Nitroimidazoles 

Regulations and Import Criteria: Importing must be permitted and allowed in the following cases.

1. Licensing:

• The importer must obtain written approval from the Food and Drug Administration Office, Ministry of Public Health.
• Chloroform must obtain written approval from the Department of Industrial Works, Ministry of Industry, and be presented to the Department of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce before being allowed to be imported.

2. Possession: 

• The licensee who has imported the goods may use, distribute, transfer, or sell them in accordance with the specified group and type, except for Chloroform. They must report the quantity of goods in their possession, as well as the amount of use, distribution, dispensation, or transfer to the Food and Drug Administration according to the specified criteria, methods, and conditions. 
• As for Chloroform, the licensee must report the quantity of goods in their possession, as well as the amount of use, sale, dispensation, or transfer to the Department of Industrial Works, following the specified criteria, methods, and conditions.
