Whether they are tourists or foreign businesspeople, dealing with a lost passport can be a significant issue. Sometimes unforeseen accidents can occur abroad. If someone enters Thailand and needs to replace their passport due to loss, expiration, or running out of visa pages, here are the steps they should follow:
Here are the steps and procedures for replacing a passport for foreigners in Thailand:
- The passport owner should go to the service counter for passport replacement at Immigration Division 1, Enforcement Division 1 (located at Chaloem Phra Kiat Government Complex, Building B). Here, they will submit their application and provide detailed information such as their name, surname, passport number, date of entry into the kingdom, flight details, etc.
- Immigration officers will verify the details of the application for correctness and completeness, including examining the passport or any substitute documents. A complaint report form will also be issued.
- Officers will check the evidence of entry into the kingdom.
- Upon verifying correct entry information, a certified copy of the entry stamp will be processed.
- If there’s an ongoing residence application or an address within the kingdom, the applicant should contact the relevant department for stamping or Immigration Division 1, Enforcement Division 1 as necessary, to obtain a certified copy for residency within the kingdom pending further consideration.
*Note: If there has been a previous application for residency within the kingdom, applicants should submit their request at the immigration checkpoint where the latest residency application was made.
