Thailand is promoting confidence and enhancing the competitiveness of the business sector on an international level by facilitating easier access for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) travelers. They are exempted from requiring a Work Permit if they are coming to work on activities related to organizing mega-events, international festivals, international music festivals, concerts, as well as meetings, training sessions, seminars, exhibitions, or trade shows. However, these activities must be supported by government agencies.
This is according to the announcement by the Department of Employment regarding the determination of urgent, necessary, or special tasks that the Thai government supports. This policy facilitates entrepreneurs in the MICE industry by allowing foreign nationals who are involved in the aforementioned activities to work without needing a Work Permit as was previously required, provided that they comply with the following guidelines and conditions.
– Organizing meetings, training sessions, seminars, exhibitions, or trade shows as mentioned in clause 3 (2).
– Work supported by government agencies as mentioned in clause 3 (13) as follows:
(a) Organizing mega-events or international festivals
(b) International music festivals or concerts
