Thailand Expands Digital Diplomacy with 10 E-Consular Services for Faster, Easier Public Access

The Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, has officially upgraded its consular services into a digital platform under the “E-Consular Service” initiative. This system enables Thai citizens and foreign nationals to access key consular services online — reducing on-site queues, paperwork, and processing time.

As of now, 10 major services are available online:

1. e-Visa – Online visa application for foreigners without visiting a Thai Embassy or Consulate.
   
2. e-Legalisation (Document Legalisation Online) – Submission of documents for authentication and appointment booking through the online platform.
   
3. Online Appointment System – Booking appointments for passport issuance, legalisation, and other consular services.
   
4. e-Passport Service – Online registration and booking for Thai passport issuance or renewal.
   
5. Online Civil Registration Services – Requesting birth certificates, death certificates, or status certifications via embassies/consulates abroad.
   
6. Consular Emergency Assistance for Thais Abroad – Online system for Thai nationals overseas to request help in emergency situations.
   
7. e-Document Checklist & Tracking – Downloadable checklists, required forms, and document status tracking.
   
8. Online Fee Payment Guidance – Instructions and channels for paying consular service fees electronically.
   
9. Mobile Consular Unit Registration – Online registration to receive services such as passport issuance when the Mobile Consular Unit visits provincial or overseas locations.
   
10. Consular Information & Notifications – Real-time updates on travel regulations, new services, and important consular announcements via website and social media.
    

This transformation reflects Thailand’s commitment to digital public services, making consular procedures more accessible for Thai nationals abroad, tourists, expatriates, and businesses involved in international documentation.
