September 25, 2024 | 244 views

As part of the Thailand Vision 2024, the government has set a goal to develop Thailand into a global industrial hub. The 8 Visions of IGNITE THAILAND serve as a roadmap to position the country as a regional leader by leveraging its strengths, including abundant natural resources, world-renowned tourist destinations, a warm climate year-round, and, most importantly, the immense potential of Thai people who are globally competitive.

Several of these visions align with the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) industry, which can actively support both the public and private sectors in realizing these goals. By harnessing Thailand’s strengths and integrating MICE into the nation’s development, the country aims to achieve sustainable progress towards its objectives.

8 Visions of IGNITE THAILAND:

  • Tourism Hub
Thailand aims to become a global tourism hub by promoting its unique “Soft Power,” enhancing the charm of Thai culture. The plan includes offering visa-free entry to several countries, making Thailand a key travel center in the region, especially for CLMV countries (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam). Efforts will also be made to promote both major and secondary cities as tourist destinations, remove regulatory obstacles, revise taxes on events or competitions, and support global homestays.
  • Wellness & Medical Hub
Thailand is positioning itself as a world-class medical and wellness center, driving the healthcare industry to become a comprehensive global health service provider.
  • Agriculture & Food Hub
With a focus on upgrading agricultural production and ensuring global food security, Thailand seeks to be a leader in the future food industry, making itself a critical player in the global food supply chain.
  • Aviation Hub
The goal is to expand Thailand’s airports to increase transit capacity, making it a key transit hub for both domestic and international airlines. This includes establishing one of the largest maintenance and repair centers in the region.
  • Logistics Hub
Thailand aims to improve its infrastructure and enhance transportation systems both domestically and internationally, including a high-speed rail network connecting three major airports and a “Land Bridge” linking the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. The country plans to become a trading gateway between the East and West, streamlining logistics processes with improved One Stop Service.
  • Future Mobility Hub
The vision is for Thailand to become a center for the production of future vehicles, particularly electric vehicles (EVs), with a projected investment plan of over 1 trillion baht. The goal is to build a complete EV ecosystem within the country and prepare for future automotive technologies.
  • Digital Economy Hub
Thailand is aiming to attract future industries, especially in digital technology, AI, and tech innovation. The country is encouraging investment in semiconductor manufacturing and establishing data centers for cloud computing, supported by competitive funding mechanisms to enhance digital business growth.
  • Financial Hub
Thailand aspires to become the Financial Center of Southeast Asia, attracting global financial institutions and establishing a regional financial district, often compared to Wall Street. It also aims to develop a sustainable financial system, including Carbon Credit Trading, to drive long-term economic growth.
