Announcement of 4 New Visa Measures Effective from July 15

Thailand announces adjustments to new visa measures to welcome tourism and stimulate the economy, as well as to facilitate easier travel for those coming to Thailand, whether for tourism, work, business, or further studies. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced 4 new visa measures, which will be effective from July 15, 2024.

Visa Exemption for 93 Countries

  • Stay in Thailand for up to 60 days.
  • For tourism purposes.
  • For business and short-term work according to the regulations set by the Department of Employment, including urgent/necessary/special tasks.
  • Can extend the stay by applying for permission as per Immigration Bureau regulations, with an extension not exceeding 30 days.

Non-ED Plus Visa

  • Issued to international students enrolled in higher education institutions in Thailand for bachelor’s degree programs and above.
  • Facilitates re-entry into the Kingdom without the need for a re-entry permit during the study period.
  • Extension of stay in Thailand to be applied for by the educational institution on behalf of the international student.
  • After graduation, permission to extend the stay in Thailand for another year.

Destination Thailand Visa (DTV)

  • Issued to foreigners who wish to stay in Thailand for work and tourism simultaneously (specific professions required).
  • Stay in Thailand for up to 180 days per entry.
  • Multiple entries into the Kingdom within 5 years.

Visa On Arrival (VOA)

  • Tourists from 31 countries and territories can apply for Visa On Arrival at immigration checkpoints.
  • Stay in Thailand for up to 15 days.
