According to the announcement of the Customs Department No. 106/2561 regarding “Criteria, Procedures, and Conditions for Customs Procedures for Importing Completed Vehicles” the Customs Department has defined completed vehicles as “passenger vehicles under HS code 8702 and passenger cars under HS code 8703.” This includes completed vehicles that are imported and stored in bonded warehouses, free trade zones, or special economic zones, and subsequently undergo domestic transfers or payment of domestic consumption taxes.

Importers must follow these steps:

  • Prepare the import cargo manifest for each individual completed vehicle. The required information must be accurately filled in according to the customs regulations. Additionally, complete the “Certificate of Detailed Vehicle Information” form. For further details

Types of covered vehicles include:

  • Vehicles powered by fuel
  • Electric vehicles
  • Hybrid vehicles
  • Upon arrival and during the customs inspection process, ensure that the imported vehicles are prepared with all necessary documents for inspection by customs officers before release
  • If everything is in order, the Customs Department will link the import cargo manifest with the Department of Land Transport by transmitting the import cargo manifest data electronically through the NSW system, once the import cargo manifest has been cleared for cargo delivery
